Knowing When to De-Load
What is de-loading?
It is part of the phase of your strength and power training where you need to drop your weights.
How much? Probably working only about 60% of max of your core lifts and eliminating plyometric work for that week.
Why do you do this?
After many years of endless research, scientists of the Eastern bloc countries found that the body can only tolerate three weeks of heavy loading of resistance.
Why? Because your body will work in cycles and cannot make linear progressions all the time so you need to "wave" these loads up and down throughout your training cycle.
When do you do this? It is best to de-load after 4 weeks of each month whether your body feels like it needs or not.
Try it in your routine and I believe you will see very good results.
